Henry Hadley Sesquicentennial - Purpose and Dates

The general purpose of the Henry Hadley 150 celebration - not a specific festival but potentially taking place around the globe - is laid out formally in the non-profit charter information elsewhere on this site. One point that may be puzzling however: Hadley was born on Dec. 20, 1871. Because (as of early 2020) this really needs some time I am suggesting Sept. 6 2021 - Dec 20 2022 as our celebration of "the first year of Hadley's life", to give more time for people to schedule, prepare performance materials, etc. This is actually of course fifteen months, pulling Hadley's Sept. 6 date of passing as a nice coincidence with many performance seasons. Our many great summer festivals of course fall nicely in either 2021 or 2022; every effort will be made to assist those who are still planning for 2021.

HOWEVER, the right time to perform Hadley is - all the time! - so anything anytime, certainly within 2021, is truly welcomed and will be honored. This is not intended to tell anyone how or with whom to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Hadley's life - just to keep the pot stirred and hope that great new performances, research, and recordings will take place.

I do have three goals that I (Dan Kerlee, Seattle) will be pushing, trying to find people and resources for:
1) publish and distribute the John Canfield biography in a non-profit way - this is already underway,
2) somehow find the materials for the orchestral version of the oratorio Resurgam, get it performed and recorded
3) somehow get an orchestral suite from the two hours of When A Man Loves (1927 film score) created, performed, recorded.

Other projects underway or completed:
- creation of a performable orchestrated version of Lelawala   ( New England Conservatory & Joseph Bozich )
- conversion of the Canfield biography into editable text           ( Dan Kerlee & Joseph Bozich )

What are your dream projects and what resources are needed to realize them? There is so much more that can be done and I really look forward to a couple of years of exciting and satisfying accomplishment for all of us as a group.
